Why you’ll love this recipe

  1. Naturally Sweetened: Medjool dates provide a delicious, caramel-like sweetness without any added sugar. They’re high in fibre, which supports digestive health and helps you feel satisfied for longer.
  2. Nutrient-Packed: Dates are rich in antioxidants and nutrients like potassium and magnesium, while dark chocolate adds a touch of heart-healthy fats and antioxidants.
  3. Versatile and Fun: You can customise the toppings, from nuts to coconut flakes or even crushed granola, making it easy to tailor to your preferences or dietary needs.

Tips for the perfect Date Caramel Apple

  1. Chill the Dates for Easier Handling: If the dates are sticking to the plastic wrap and are hard to remove, place them in the fridge for about 10 minutes. This will firm them up, making it much easier to peel away the wrap.
  2. Choose Fresh, Soft Medjool Dates: Soft, fresh Medjool dates are ideal for this recipe. They flatten smoothly and mould well around the apple, creating a perfect, caramel-like layer.
  3. Get Creative with Toppings:
  • Add a swirl of peanut butter to the melted chocolate for extra healthy fats
  • Try salted popcorn for a sweet-salty crunch
  • Sprinkle on granola
  • Add coconut shavings
  • Top with toasted slivered almonds
